Zimbabwe - how long?

How long does it take to add up and release votes from the different polling stations?

We are now into the second week of counting/tabulating/verifying the votes and it's obviously a little more than fishy.

I was hoping by now to be blogging about a new, democratic start for Zimbabwe but now we see that Zanu PF are requesting a recount before the official figures have been announced and are reported to be unleashing a widespread campaign of intimidation to win any second round.

Needless to say this is the antithesis of what is meant by democracy.

Democracy means being able to kick people out. Yes Mugabe started out as a liberator, unfortunately he didn't end up as one. He didn't work to maintain democratic traditions and didn't make provision for a stable post Mugabe era.

That work will fall to others.
